I Like A Little Bravado

I was watching this video where Prince, God rest his soul, shredded on his guitar for over three minutes and then threw it into the audience. After watching it a few or dozen times, I realized something I think I always knew: I like a little bravado. I like it when people who are good at something, know they’re good, and – in small doses – let us know that they know.

Everclear, Lit and Eve 6. Live: on stage. At a casino. I just saw a billboard on the freeway for this. Does anyone remember those bands? You know I do. Although I was not very alert during the latter part of the 90s, I distinctly remembering each of those bands having their few moments of glory on the alternative rock airwaves.

Just Let It Go, Bro!

If you’ve been watching American Idol like I have (it’s the farewell season – cut me some slack!), you might have seen Jennifer Lopez critique top five finalist Sonika Vaid for being a bit restrained. I was thinking about that because as a musician (yes, technically I am one), I’ve been given similar criticism. Mine is usually, “You need to smile more.”
