Now that the Thanksgiving holiday is over, and I’m finally getting less stuffed, I have a moment to write about what I’m thankful for. Here it is:
1) My wife and son. I got married kinda late in life and have started a family a little later than I guess I had expected. Our marriage was a little rocky the first year / year and a half. I’m super thankful for my wife and son, and really excited about the next child that’s on the way – due June 2015
2) My extended family. You can’t chose your family, but if I could, I don’t think I’d have chosen differently. I got lucky. I have a great parents, sisters, brothers in laws, nieces and nephews… not to mention cousins, aunts, and uncles… and one remaining grandma!
3) Health. Often taken for granted, and often looked down on as I (only half-heartedly) try and stay in shape, I’m truly blessed to be 38, able bodied, pain free, and lacking any bad conditions.
4) I have a job. As I transition from producer / manager to owner, I’m obsessed with the details and learning how to run things successfully and putting the agency on a plan for success and growth, which highlights all the parts that need improving. So I too often forget: I have a job! Some don’t.
5) Turkey. Last year we had steak on Thanksgiving, and although I love steak, it felt wrong. This year we had turkey AND steak! (and everything else). Boo-yeah!
